The UK Royal Navy’s (RN’s) Dreadnought-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) programme has achieved another milestone with the start of construction of the third boat.
A steel-cutting ceremony for third-of-class Warspite was held at BAE Systems’ shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, on 9 February.

On Sunday, Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) took to Twitter to announce that the military had shot down another “object” that had been identified over Lake Huron. Bergman tweeted, “I’ve been in contact with DoD regarding operations across the Great Lakes region today. The U.S. military has decommissioned another “object” over Lake Huron. I appreciate the decisive action by our fighter pilots. The American people deserve far more answers than we have.

A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Parola-class patrol vessel was hit by a Chinese-deployed “military-grade” laser while it was on a resupply mission, the service claimed on 13 February.

Israeli aerospace and defence company Elbit Systems has delivered the 600,000th E-LynX software-defined radio (SDR) system to the Swedish Defence Material Administration (Försvarets materielverk – FMV).
Viewed as a significant delivery milestone, the shipment was part of the Tactical Ground Radio (TGR) programme to equip the Swedish Armed Forces with the latest and most secure communication systems.
The E-LynX system is a high-frequency tactical radio system developed to address a wide range of complex communication requirements of forces on the modern battlefield.

The US Department of Defence (DoD) has announced that the US and Canada plan to further modernise the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The announcement was made by Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand and US Defence Secretary Lloyd J Austin III at a bilateral meeting at the Pentagon on 10 February.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed a wide range of defence and security issues, including the steps to enhance NORAD modernisation and joint investment in ‘modern, ready and capable forces’.
