Raytheon, the main contractor of the Patriot air defense system, has announced it plans to deliver five more of them to Ukraine by the end of next year. So far, Ukraine has received two Patriot batteries, one from the U.S. and one from Germany (consisting of German and Dutch components), to bolster its air defenses. The Netherlands agreed in January to also supply a pair of Patriot launcher components.
The announcement from Raytheon represents a drastic expansion of air defense capability for the embattled nation.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has signed off on a tasking memo aimed at improving the Pentagon’s contributions to the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process.
The move came on the heels of a “Tiger Team” review involving officials from across the department, which highlighted a number of shortcomings and systemic challenges with the current setup that make it harder to procure and transfer critical technology to international allies and partners.
Austin on Tuesday issued a series of directives to officials and agencies that implement arms exports and security cooperation.

As the U.S. military struggles to meet recruitment numbers, the U.S. Army and Air Force have taken to recruiting immigrants with the promise of expedited U.S. citizenship in exchange for service to the country.
While the Army is coming off its worst recruitment year in decades, the Marine Corps is the only branch still on track to meet its recruitment goal for 2023.

Military families experience a lot of stressful situations and time periods that are unique to military life. Deployments upend family plans and permanent change of station (PCS) moves can have a wide-ranging impact on every member of the family. Many families have to move when changing jobs – military families do it every three years.
For military families moving as often as they do, especially moving with children who have lives of their own, PCS moves can broadly disrupt the lives of every family member.

Leaders of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies and Information (CITI) have requested an official briefing with the Pentagon’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer Craig Martell to discuss his handling of the reportedly low employee morale within the nascent office he leads, according to a letter obtained exclusively by DefenseScoop on Tuesday.
In the letter, which was dated and delivered on Monday, CITI Chair Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., and Ranking Member Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif.

The mission of the Marine Corps Rifle Squad is, “To locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, and to repel the enemy’s assault by fire and close combat”. These tenants have a tremendous influence on the culture and conduct of Marines. It affects how they carry themselves, how they view the world, and how they respond to events.
