With Finland officially joining the Alliance, NATO’s top commander can now include the country in his military plans, which lay out how to defend the bloc’s members against attack.
Finnish defense capabilities and experience make it unlikely that NATO will station allied battlegroups in the country to replicate the defense structures of the rest of the eastern flank, say officials with knowledge of the situation. 
Already eight multinational battle groups have been constructed in Poland and the Baltics by NATO as “tripwires” against a potential Russian invasion.

After the interruption of regional cooperation with the West, Russia will begin multilateral drills in its Arctic territory this week, in which nine non-Arctic countries will participate to test Russian-made equipment.
According to a statement on April 6 and 7, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will organize the Safe Arctic 2023 exercises in nine regions of the country’s Arctic zone.
Representatives from nine unidentified African, Latin American, and Eurasian nations are present.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu issued a threatening warning against NATO on Tuesday as Finland officially joined the alliance and expanded the network.
Finland and Sweden, which had previously opposed joining the military bloc, decided to do so after Russia’s murderous invasion of Ukraine and its increasingly belligerent language towards European nations opposed to the illegal war.
NATO membership means that Helsinki now enjoys the alliance’s full protection should Russia attack Finland.

The 17th Airborne Division activated on April 15, 1943, and was comprised of soldiers from all over the United States. Their mission was to parachute behind enemy lines and disrupt the German supply lines. If you’ve ever met a paratrooper, you know that kind of task requires a certain a special kind of bravery.
Unfortunately, the division didn’t get much of a chance to prove themselves. Due to a series of mishaps and miscommunications, the 17th Airborne Division was in reserve for most of the war. But that doesn’t mean they didn’t make an impact.

In April 1961, 1,500 Cuban exiles landed on the southwestern coast of Cuba. Just two years prior, rebel leader Fidel Castro took power in Havana after years of revolutionary combat. Unlike revolutions on the island in the past, Castro was a communist, and his revolution nationalized American businesses, which included industries like oil, sugar and coffee. The U.S. government was not pleased.
President Eisenhower enacted an embargo on Cuba while the CIA began funding Brigade 2506, an armed insurgency group dedicated to overthrowing Castro and reinstating democratic rule in Cuba.

This day is an opportunity for us to show our support and appreciation for the strength and sacrifice of military spouses. It goes without saying that milspouses play a vital role in supporting service members and their families. In fact, they’re often the ones who must pick up the pieces and carry on after a tragedy. Suffice it to say, they are true heroes, and we owe them a debt of gratitude.
