North Korea said the Haeil-2 underwater nuclear strike vehicle traveled 1,000 kilometers during this week’s test.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on April 8 that the North Korean National Defense Science Research Institute tested the Haeil-2 underwater nuclear attack unmanned vehicle on April 4-7. This strategic weapon can create “radioactive tsunamis” that destroy ships and shore targets.

Starting Wednesday, the Chinese military will undertake three days of drills outside Taiwan in an effort to improve battle readiness.
To improve combat readiness, the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army has stated that the exercise “Combined Lijian” will be held from April 8 to 10.
The exercise will take place “in the waters and airspace of the Taiwan Strait, off the north, south, and east of the island,” Eastern Theater Command spokeswoman Thi Nghi said, without specifying a location.

The Russian official in Crimea said air defenses shot down a missile launched from Ukraine into the peninsula.
“A missile launched from Ukraine was shot down while flying over Feodosiya,” Sergei Aksyonov, the head of the Crimean government appointed by Russia, announced on April 8.
Feodosiya, bordering the Black Sea, is located in the eastern part of Crimea, a peninsula Russia annexed and controlled in 2014.
Oleg Kryuchkov, the communications adviser to Aksyonov, said the air defense system in Feodosiya was activated.

The Air Defense Identification Zone was breached by 45 Chinese aircraft, including fighters, bombers, and surveillance planes, according to the Taiwanese Defense Agency.
Taiwan’s defense office reported 71 Chinese military planes and 9 naval ships approaching the island as of the afternoon of April 8. At least 45 military planes, including J-10s, J-11s, J-16s, Y-20 transports, H-6K bombers, and KJ-500 reconnaissance planes, have crossed the strait’s median line or flown inside the island’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ).
