On Saturday, US President Joe Biden said that his administration would not “make it easy” for Ukraine to join NATO, saying the war-torn nation must abide by the same standards as other member states.
Under the NATO Membership Action Plan, candidate nations must undergo military and democratic reforms before NATO membership is considered.
Last week, Biden officials said the president “was open to” waiving the requirement for Ukraine, which this week launched a counterattack amid Russia’s war of aggression.

The U.S. Navy is sending its Flyaway Deep Ocean Salvage System to help in the effort to find a submersible that recently went missing in the Atlantic Ocean and hopefully help rescue the five individuals inside. This is one of a number of specialized Navy deep-sea search, rescue, and salvage capabilities, that also include its own submersible platforms and remotely-operated vehicles, or ROVs.
In today’s age of modern warfare, the DoD is hard-pressed to maintain effective and resilient logistics operations. Contested logistics, characterized by hostile environments, limited resources, and the presence of adversaries, pose real challenges to the U.S. military and its ability to manage current supply chains. Currently, forces are challenged to move supplies quickly and efficiently in the face of imminent attacks from our adversaries. This is where artificial intelligence (AI) holds the most promise within the DoD.

Amid Ukraine’s long-anticipated counteroffensive, Russia is packing old, dilapidated tanks with explosives and sending them on one-way trips toward the Ukrainian front lines as lumbering vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs).
A video posted on June 18 and claiming to be taken in Donetsk Oblast shows a Russian T-54/55 model tank rolling across a field littered with craters towards what is presumably a Ukrainian position.
#Ukraine The Russian Army sent a T-54/55 VBIED filled with 6 tonnes of TNT at AFU lines near Marinka, Donetsk Oblast.
The U.S. Navy’s sixth Block IV Virginia-class attack submarine, USS Iowa (SSN 797), was christened during a ceremony at the General Dynamics Electric Boat Yard facility in Groton, Connecticut, on June 19, 2023.
USS Iowa is the fourth ship in the US Navy and the first submarine named after the state.
About the SSN Block IV class “Virginia.”
Block IV submarines (SSN 792 to 801) incorporate design changes focused on reducing Total Cost of Ownership (RTOC).
Russia appears to be using old T-54/55 tanks as vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices in a new development.
Russia appears to be loading explosives into T-54/55 tanks and aiming them at Ukrainian positions on the battlefield before detonating them by remote control in an attempt to break through. A recent video appears to provide the first confirmation of a T-54/55 tank equipped for this purpose as a Vehicle-Borried Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). However, the exact effectiveness of this effort is open to debate.
There’s been lots of talk about artificial intelligence lately, but what is AI actually and just how capable are today’s AI systems?
