On 22 February 2025, President Trump announced that he was firing CJCS GEN Brown and was considering nominating retired LtGen Dan “Razin’” Caine. Superficially, the firing was not a surprise given the new POTUS and SECDEF intention to rid DoD of leadership that was spreading DEI. Firing the ringleader is the first way to change the culture in any organization.
Potentially bringing back a retired general to serve as CJCS honestly is not too surprising either.
Recruits who went through the Army’s successful pre-bootcamp prep course in order to rapidly lose weight were not consistently monitored as they shed pounds and may have faced ”increased risks” to their health because the recruiting program was short on nutritionists and other medical personnel, an Inspector General report found.
But officials behind the course insist the recruits who have attended the course have emerged in “far better” health than when they arrived, with most moving on to traditional boot camp.
The Supreme Court once again refused to hear a case challenging the 75-year-old rule that service members may not sue the government for service-related harm, including when military doctors commit malpractice.
The court rejected a case brought by a Maryland Air National Guardsman who was paralyzed in April 2018 by a botched back surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.
