The meeting took place at a combat casualty conference in St. Petersburg, Florida, where researchers and doctors discussed TBIs soldiers could suffer on the battlefield.
It was the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.
Within days, the U.S. would enter a series of wars that would last nearly two decades and TBIs would become “one of the signature injuries of troops wounded” in those conflicts.

Major League Baseball all-star Pete Rose, best known as the leader in all-time hits and games played – as well as his fall from grace for gambling on the game – has died. He was 83.
With 4,256 hits over a 24-season career and known as “Charlie Hustle” for the way he ran even when he was walked, Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds for the majority of his career, including the team’s Big Red Machine lineup from 1970 to 1979 when they dominated the league.

The latest number of ballistic missiles fired stands at 181 according to reliable sources in Israel. Many were fired at strictly civilian targets in central Israel, along with military installations across the country. Video from Israel shows a number of missiles were able to overwhelm the missile defense system, but miraculously no Israelis were seriously hurt. The one base that was also the target of the previous Iranian attack was Nevatim AB in the Arava Desert near the city of Arad.
