Russia’s full-scale assault on Ukraine has altered the global arms market in ways not seen since the end of the Cold War, creating challenges and opportunities for arms exporters and importers alike. Russian arms exports are down, global defense spending is up, and alternative arms exporters are keen to take advantage of this new market reality. For countries that previously relied on Russia to equip their militaries, these are perilous times. Some have complained about a lack of spare parts while others have been asked to sell back kit to Moscow.
I sat down with one of the primary moderators of the Army Reddit page (@r/army) to discuss the current climate and issues facing the soldiers in barracks life. We also discussed the response the Army put out in MILPER (think Army memo) and the ALARACT (All Army Activities Message), in reference to the reports about the Army allegedly stealing $151 Million in BAS (Basic Allowance Sustenance) at 11 bases. This response comes months after the initial article broke the story. The response feels like a halfhearted attempt to deflect from the issue and not cause a scene.
For millions of Americans, drugs like Ozempic have been a lifesaver. For many of those same Americans, however, the side-effects of the once-a-week dosage have been debilitating.
Even The New York Times recently ran an article on people choosing to “micro-dose” Ozempic to avoid the worst of the side effects:
Erica Liebman wanted to lose weight, but she was nervous to try a drug like Ozempic. Ms. Liebman, a psychologist in Philadelphia, had heard horror stories of side effects — nausea, vomiting, intense constipation.

More than 350 probationary employees were terminated from their jobs at the Pentagon — or informed that they would be — since mid-February, according to a document the Defense Department submitted to a federal court on Wednesday. Now, dozens of those individuals are in the process of being hired back on, in compliance with a court order finding those Trump administration-led terminations were likely unlawful.
A new memo from the acting undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness lays out categories of positions that are exempt from the Department of Defense’s civilian hiring freeze that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered to further the Trump administration’s DOGE initiatives.
When ABC News journalist Bob Woodruff was critically injured by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq in 2006, his life changed in an instant. But his recovery was not just a personal journey; it became the foundation for a mission that would change the lives of countless others. Together with his wife, Lee, Bob turned adversity into action, founding the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) to support injured service members, veterans and their families.
Since its inception in 2006, BWF has grown into a national leader in addressing the complex needs of veterans returning from service.

An Army historian has come out with a list of the top five movies that “accurately portray U.S. soldiers and combat operations at the time,” and there is one universally beloved title that isn’t on his list: “Saving Private Ryan.”
That’s right: The film that immersed movie-goers in a realistic depiction of the hell that U.S. soldiers faced at Omaha Beach on D-Day did not make the cut.
As if to pour lemon juice on a paper cut, the World War II infantry movie that did make the list was “The Thin Red Line.
