On May 22, 2025, the U.S. Army’s xTech Program announced that the MARS Inc, Barrett team was selected as the winner of the xTech Soldier Lethality competition for the Precision Grenadier System. The Army invited companies to showcase concepts for the PGS requirements. Participants engaged and pitched their technology solutions to the Department of Defense for prize money and the potential to receive a contract award or agreement of up to $2 million.

QinetiQ US has secured a $41m task order to bolster the US Army’s defences against growing uncrewed aerial system (UAS) threats.
The body of a missing airman assigned to Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, was recovered on Monday afternoon from Elephant Butte Lake, a news release from the base says.
Air Force officials have not yet released the name of the airman pending next of kin notification.
“The incident remains under investigation, and additional information will be released as appropriate,” the news release says.
The airman, who was assigned to the 351st Special Warfare Training Squadron, went missing on Saturday at the lake, which is about 150 miles from the base.
