A new variant of the Russian Pantsir air defence combat vehicle heavily optimised to neutralise large swarms of hostile drones has completed development, and is set to equip the Russian Armed Forces as they face growing numbers of enemy unmanned aircraft in the Ukrainian theatre. The new variant, designated the Pantsir-SMD, integrates lighter shorter ranged surface-to-air missiles that are expected to be significantly cheaper to produce, while quadrupling its missile carriage.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force 2nd Air Brigade has been confirmed to have begun to deploy J-20 fifth generation fighters, marking a major improvement for the unit’s capabilities which will transform how it operates in future. Based at Yulong Airbase in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia under the Northern Theatre Command, the brigade is located approximately 400 kilometres from Beijing, and bears responsibility for guarding the Chinese capital.

The Navy released a new memo issued by its chief technology officer outlining priority areas for future investment by the sea services as they pursue modernization.
The document, dated June 17 and signed by acting CTO Justin Fanelli, noted the need to “accelerate the adoption of game changing commercial technology.”
The list of priorities “can help shape resource allocation decisions across the enterprise,” he wrote, adding that it should serve as a “signaling tool” to industry partners and private capital to inform how they allocate their resources and focus their efforts.

Alejandro Barranco is a Marine veteran, and his two brothers are still serving in the Marine Corps and stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. All three of them were taught by their father to be proud Americans.
But on June 21, his father, Narciso Barranco, was arrested by Border Patrol agents in Santa Ana, California. Video posted on social media of Narciso’s arrest appears to show at least one law enforcement officer punching him several times while he was on the ground after being apprehended.
