Russia and India are currently discussing the possibility of pursuing a joint fifth generation fighter program, according to the Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugayev. He added that the two countries are also discussing options for further production of the Russian Su-30MKI fighter in India, further modernisation of the aircraft, joint production of air-launched weapons, and the development of military-technical cooperation on modern air defence systems and unmanned aircraft.
Across Europe, nations have signaled a desire to dig, wire, and network their frontiers. From the Baltic Defense Line and the European Union’s proposed “drone wall” to Finland’s pilot barriers and Poland’s East Shield, the continent has embarked upon its most significant defensive hardening since the Cold War. Rather than nostalgia for the trenches, this effort represents a calculated adaptation to the war in Ukraine, one designed to ensure aggression is neither quick nor cheap.
U.S. attacks on alleged narcotics trafficking boats continue unabated with little apparent concern for near-unanimous legal condemnation. The Trump administration justifies these attacks as an exercise of national self-defense against a non-state group engaged in armed conflict against the United States — two inherently defective legal assertions. The result is the targeting of drug cartels like Tren de Aragua with missile strikes. This is not bending the law, it is breaking it.
The Polish Defence Ministry has accepted the delivery of 32 U.S.-built M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams main battle tanks, continuing the rapid expansion of the country’s fleet. This closely follows the delivery of 38 M1A2 SEPv3 tanks in mid-September, a previous batch which was delivered in May 2025, and the first batch which arrived in January. Poland has ordered 336 Abrams tanks from the United States, including 116 less capable M1A1 tanks acquired second hand from the Marine Corps, the final batch of which was delivered in July 2024, and 250 newer M1A2 SEPv3 tanks ordered in April 2022 under a $4.
The private Beijing-based aerospace firm LandSpace has launched the country’s first reusable methane-fuelled rocket, the ZhuQue-3, into orbit, marking a major landmark in the country’s space program. The 66 metre tall booster lifted off from near Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, with the rocket using nine methane engines in its first stage and a single vacuum engine in its second.
The U.S. Army 1-12 Cavalry Regiment has deployed M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks to participate multinational live-fire exercise in Lithuania, during which the tanks demonstrated the engagement capabilities of their 120mm main guns. Exercises held on December 2 focused on developing crew-level skills, improving target engagement, and building interoperability with allied units positioned along NATO’s eastern flank with Russia. The Pabrade Training Ground where the exercises were held continues to undergo significant upgrades, with increasingly large NATO exercises expected to be hosted there.
The Pentagon plans to purchase more than 200,000 industry-made drones by 2027 — with forthcoming orders for 30,000 of those unmanned assets to be delivered by July 2026 — via its new Drone Dominance Program.
This initiative builds on policies and guidance that President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued this summer to spark growth across the U.S. industrial base and rapidly equip the military with a trusted arsenal of cheap and lethal options for small uncrewed aerial systems.
