Russia captured an intact M2 Bradley and studied it. Comparing the Bradley to the Russian equivalent, the BMP-3, the Russian engineers and analysts found the U.S.-made vehicle superior in many ways, but lacking in some.
Enough was learned from that they recommended incorporating several aspects of the Bradley into their future infantry fighting vehicles.
This case of reverse engineering your foe’s superior tech is just the latest example in a long history going back centuries, with more recent examples coming from China and Russia.
